Chas Pulido is a self-taught artist specializing in abstract acrylic action painting. He lives in San Francisco, California, where his studio is located in the Dogpatch neighborhood.

From an early age, he demonstrated a strong passion for the visual arts. His early works were already distinguished by their boldness, use of color, and sense of movement, characteristics that helped him develop a distinctive artistic voice and gain international recognition with a Mobius Award.

His current practice is rooted in the tradition of action painting, popularized by Jackson Pollock through techniques involving the pouring and splattering of paint onto canvas. Pulido has developed his own visual language by using everyday tools, such as spatulas, brooms, and mops, alongside specialized brushes. His creative process often involves his entire body, with energetic gestures that generate textured surfaces and dynamic compositions.

His artistic journey began in a small family garage, where he experimented on canvases measuring just six inches. Over time, he gradually expanded the scale of his work, eventually creating large-format paintings in his studio, an expansive space equipped with hundreds of different colors, tools, and materials.

His works stand out for their chromatic intensity and visual energy. Some pieces feature more structured compositions inspired by natural elements such as flowers, waves, trees, plants, and coral reefs. Others explore abstraction through explosions, spirals, rainbows, storms, stars, and phenomena that evoke movement and transformation.

Experimentation is an essential component of his practice. Pulido continues to develop new techniques, build tools, explore color combinations, and design canvases with unconventional shapes.

His artistic vision is also shaped by personal experiences and travel. He has visited nearly ninety countries, gone scuba diving hundreds of times, and attended numerous concerts. These experiences have allowed him to engage with different cultures, architecture, landscapes, museums, and artistic traditions, continually expanding his visual imagination.

Alongside his artistic career, Pulido works in venture capital, investing in biotechnology startups focused on developing innovative therapies. His professional journey has earned him recognition, including Forbes 30 Under 30 and Business Insider's Rising Star VC distinction.

His personal story has also been marked by significant health challenges. After facing a brain tumor and undergoing surgery, he developed fibromyalgia, a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain.

Despite these difficulties, he has continued to work, transforming resilience and personal experience into elements reflected in the energy, vitality, and constant evolution of his art.

Deeply aware of the challenges faced by people living with chronic illnesses, Pulido believes that obstacles can become opportunities for growth. He encourages others to pursue their dreams with determination and to approach the future with confidence and optimism.
