Madeleine Skrzynecka is a Polish painter based in Madrid, Spain. Through painting, she has gradually built an imagined world of her own, inhabited by recurring figures, elaborate costumes, intimate interiors, and landscapes that seem to exist somewhere between memory and imagination.

Her paintings are guided by an interest in intimacy, femininity, and the emotional traces left by people, places, and fleeting moments. Rather than depicting specific stories, she creates scenes that belong to a larger, interconnected universe, one that she has come to know almost as a place of her own. Its figures, rooms, and surroundings carry a sense of familiarity, as if they have always existed there, waiting to be painted. Colour plays an essential role in this world. Working primarily through a monochromatic palette, particularly Prussian blue, Skrzynecka creates a distinctive atmosphere in which figures seem suspended outside ordinary time. Her paintings invite the viewer into a world where gestures, appearances, and small details hold their own quiet significance, leaving space for personal interpretation.

Skrzynecka has presented solo exhibitions in Madrid and Tokyo, alongside group exhibitions across

Europe. In November 2026, she will present an upcoming exhibition in New York. Her practice

continues to evolve as she returns to her imagined universe, discovering new possibilities within a

world that grows and changes alongside her.
