Uncertainty as Space – My Painting Follows Intuition

Born on May 29, 1975, in Germany, I live and work in my studio in southern Germany. After

training as a state-certified graphic designer, I have worked as a freelance illustrator for

publishers for over twenty years. Alongside this applied artistic work, I dedicate myself to fine art

painting – a space where I can move beyond predetermined structures and expectations.

Abstraction is central to my artistic practice. It opens up an open space for me where color

becomes sensation, surface becomes memory, and gesture becomes a language beyond

words. Colors, textures, and layers break free from their fixed meanings and develop a life of

their own. They encounter one another, condense, contradict each other, and enter into a silent

dialogue between tension and harmony.

My painting follows intuition. It arises from the process itself, from immediate action, perception,

and acceptance. I understand painting as an interplay between conscious decision and the

courage to relinquish control. What initially appears random can take shape into an inner order;

what was planned is allowed to change. In dialogue with the material, pictorial spaces emerge

whose development cannot be fully predicted.

Uncertainty is the space from which my painting arises. It is not a condition to be overcome, but

rather an openness that gives rise to possibilities. Within it lies the freedom to encounter the

unknown, to pick up traces, and to allow the painting to follow its own path.

Thus, my painting becomes a quiet encounter between material and emotion, between creation

and release, between the work and the viewer. The paintings do not seek to provide definitive

answers. Rather, they invite the viewer to pause, to discover their own sensations, and to

engage with what arises between color, form, and perception.
